On OVHcloud (Managed Kubernetes)

The Verana testnet services run on OVHcloud Managed Kubernetes, so this is the most exercised path. Terraform for all of it is in verana-deploy-examples (Managed Kubernetes cluster, node pool, ingress-nginx, cert-manager, OVHcloud DNS record); its README states whether it has been verified. The steps below are the CLI path to the same result.

Steps

  1. Cluster. In a Public Cloud project, create a Managed Kubernetes cluster in your region with a node pool of two b3-8 nodes. Download the kubeconfig. The cluster ships the csi-cinder-high-speed storage class, which is the chart's default.
  2. Ingress controller. Install ingress-nginx with a LoadBalancer Service; OVHcloud provisions a load balancer with a public IP.
  3. DNS. In the OVHcloud DNS zone, create an A record agent.example.com to that IP.
  4. cert-manager. Install cert-manager and a Let's Encrypt ClusterIssuer with the HTTP-01 solver on class nginx.
  5. Continue with Deploy on Kubernetes with Helm; the storage class default already matches.

Notes

  • Secrets: OVHcloud has no managed secret store integrated with Kubernetes; create Secrets from your pipeline or run External Secrets Operator against a vault you operate.
  • A single VPS with Docker Compose is the cheaper option for one agent.
