Join through an onboarding process
When a schema requires an onboarding process for your role, you apply on the registry and your agent runs the conversation with the validator's agent. The pattern is the one of the ECS Organization credential, for any schema and any role.
Steps
1. Apply
Frontend, Discover & Join, the ecosystem, the schema, the role. The wizard lists the validators of the required kind (the ecosystem's root, or grantors) as trust cards with fees. Choose one, enter your agent's DID, set the agent's account as VS operator, review the cost (fee to escrow, deposit share, network fee), sign.
2. The agent runs the flow
Your agent connects to the validator and sends the onboarding request. For schemas other than ECS it sends no claims: the validator collects what it needs through its own process, often an out-of-band link.

When the state is OOB_PENDING, the flow record carries the link and its description: a form, a document upload, an identity check on the validator's site. Complete it; the validator resumes.
3. Validation
The validator sets your accreditation to validated on the registry. For issuer and verifier roles the flow is complete there; for the holder role the validator then issues the credential, which your agent publishes.
Verify
The accreditation is ACTIVE in the indexer and on the frontend's Agents page; the flow is VALIDATED (issuer, verifier) or COMPLETED (holder).
Renewal
Before the effective end, renew from the participant card in the frontend: a new process starts with the same validator while the current accreditation stays active. See Renew, cancel, leave.
Troubleshooting
